Returns and Cancellation Policy
Last updated: 29 July 2026
This Returns and Cancellation Policy applies to products purchased by consumers directly from RTOIP LTD through canopy-flasher.com.
A consumer is an individual purchasing goods wholly or mainly for purposes outside their trade, business, craft or profession.
Nothing in this policy limits or excludes your statutory consumer rights.
1. Cancelling an Online Order
You have the right to cancel most online orders without giving a reason.
You may cancel your order at any time before delivery or within 14 days after the day on which you, or a person nominated by you, receives the goods.
To cancel an order, you must send us a clear statement confirming that you wish to cancel. Please include your name, order number and details of the product being returned.
Email: office@canopy-flasher.com
You may use the model cancellation form at the end of this policy, but you are not required to use it.
Your cancellation is effective when you send us your clear cancellation notice. It is not dependent on receiving a return authorisation number from us.
2. Returning a Cancelled Order
After telling us that you wish to cancel, you must return the goods without undue delay and no later than 14 days after the day on which you informed us of your cancellation.
Please contact us at office@canopy-flasher.com before sending the product so that we can provide the correct return address and appropriate return instructions.
Do not send returned products to our registered office unless we specifically instruct you to do so.
For a change-of-mind return, you are responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods to us.
We recommend using a tracked and suitably insured delivery service and retaining proof of posting. Using a tracked service is not a condition of your statutory cancellation right.
You are responsible for packaging the product securely and taking reasonable care to prevent damage during return transport.
3. Refunds for Cancelled Orders
When you validly cancel an order, we will refund:
- the price paid for the returned goods, subject to any lawful deduction for diminished value; and
- the cost of the least expensive standard delivery option offered by us when the order was placed.
If you selected express, priority or another more expensive delivery service, we are not required to refund the additional amount above the cost of our least expensive standard delivery option.
We may withhold the refund until:
- we have received the returned goods; or
- you provide satisfactory evidence that the goods have been sent back,
whichever occurs first.
We will make the refund without undue delay and no later than 14 days after receiving the returned goods or satisfactory evidence that they have been sent back.
Refunds will normally be made using the same payment method used for the original transaction, unless another method is expressly agreed.
We do not impose a fixed cancellation, administration or restocking fee.
4. Inspection and Permitted Handling
You may inspect the product only to the extent reasonably necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and functioning, in the same way that you could reasonably inspect a product in a shop.
For the Glider Canopy Flasher, reasonable inspection may include:
- visually inspecting the product and supplied components;
- checking the dimensions and curvature without permanently mounting the product;
- checking that the correct cables and accessories have been supplied; and
- briefly powering and testing the product where this can be done safely without modifying, installing or damaging it.
Reasonable inspection does not normally include permanent or operational installation in an aircraft, removing or using adhesive mounting materials, modifying cables or using the product in service.
5. Products Returned Used, Damaged or Incomplete
You remain entitled to cancel your order even if the goods have been handled. However, you are responsible for any reduction in value caused by handling, installation, use, modification, damage or testing beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect the goods.
Where the value of a returned product has been reduced, RTOIP LTD may make a reasonable and proportionate deduction from the refund to reflect the product’s actual reduction in value.
A deduction may be made where, for example:
- the flasher or control box has been installed or there is evidence of attempted installation;
- the protective backing has been removed from the supplied VHB adhesive tape;
- the VHB tape, gasket or other single-use mounting material has been used, contaminated or damaged;
- cables have been cut, shortened, stripped, modified or damaged;
- connectors, housings, aluminium surfaces or mounting parts are scratched, marked or damaged;
- the product has been drilled, glued, painted, altered or otherwise modified;
- the product has been exposed to contamination, chemicals or unsuitable environmental conditions;
- the product has been operated beyond what was reasonably necessary for inspection;
- components, cables, accessories, documentation or other supplied parts are missing;
- a different product or component has been returned;
- the returned product has been damaged because it was inadequately packaged; or
- the product can no longer reasonably be sold as new.
The amount deducted will be assessed individually and may take account of:
- the reasonable cost of replacing damaged, used or missing components;
- the reasonable cost of restoring and retesting the product;
- the difference between the original selling value and the value of the product in its returned condition; and
- whether the returned product can only be sold as used, refurbished, damaged or incomplete.
If the product has been damaged, modified or used to such an extent that it has no remaining commercial value, the lawful deduction may equal the full product price.
Any deduction will reflect the documented reduction in value and will not be imposed as an arbitrary restocking, administration or cancellation fee.
We will provide an explanation of any deduction made from the refund.
6. Return Inspection and Product Identification
All Glider Canopy Flasher units contain a unique serial number programmed into the product firmware.
When a product is returned, we may:
- verify the firmware serial number against the original order and production records;
- inspect and photograph the returned packaging, product and supplied components;
- check for evidence of installation, use, modification or physical damage;
- check whether cables, accessories and mounting materials are complete;
- perform an electrical and functional test;
- compare the returned product with final production and test records; and
- record the condition and commercial value of the returned product.
If the returned unit or its firmware serial number does not correspond with the unit supplied under the relevant order, we may withhold the refund while the discrepancy is investigated.
Returning a different product, substituted component or materially altered serialised unit does not satisfy the obligation to return the goods supplied under the cancelled contract.
7. Original Packaging and Supplied Components
We ask that the product is returned securely packaged and with all cables, accessories, mounting materials and other components supplied as part of the order.
Original packaging should be used where reasonably possible because it is designed to protect the product during transport.
The absence of original packaging alone does not automatically remove your statutory cancellation right. However, you may be responsible for an actual reduction in value or damage resulting from inadequate return packaging.
8. Custom-Made and Personalised Products
The statutory change-of-mind cancellation right does not apply to products made to your individual specifications or products that are clearly personalised.
This may include an enclosure, mounting base or other component manufactured specifically using:
- individual measurements supplied by you;
- a canopy profile, drawing, scan or template supplied by you;
- a unique shape or mounting arrangement requested by you; or
- another specification created specifically for your installation and not offered as a standard product option.
Selecting one of the standard curvature or product options normally listed on our website does not, by itself, make the product custom-made or personalised.
We will inform you before accepting an order where a product will be treated as made to your individual specifications and the statutory change-of-mind cancellation right will not apply.
This exception does not affect your statutory rights where a custom-made or personalised product is faulty, damaged when supplied, not as described or not fit for purpose.
9. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Products
Products supplied by RTOIP LTD must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described.
If your product is faulty, damaged when received, incorrectly supplied, not as described or not fit for purpose, please contact us at office@canopy-flasher.com.
Please provide, where reasonably possible:
- your name and order number;
- the firmware serial number of the affected unit;
- a description of the problem;
- details of the installation and circumstances in which the problem occurred;
- photographs or video showing the issue; and
- any relevant test results or error messages.
Requesting photographs, serial numbers or diagnostic information does not remove or restrict your statutory rights. This information helps us identify the product and determine the quickest appropriate remedy.
Where you have a legal right to reject or return faulty, damaged or incorrectly supplied goods, RTOIP LTD will bear the reasonable cost of returning them.
We may:
- provide a prepaid return label;
- arrange collection;
- agree an appropriate return method; or
- reimburse an agreed reasonable return cost.
Please contact us before arranging an unusually expensive return service. We are not required to reimburse an unnecessarily expensive return method where a suitable and reasonably priced method was available.
10. Short-Term Right to Reject Faulty Goods
Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, you may have a short-term right to reject faulty goods within 30 days.
Where the short-term right to reject applies, you may be entitled to return the faulty product for a refund.
After the short-term right to reject has expired, you may be entitled to a repair or replacement. If a repair or replacement is unsuccessful, impossible or cannot be provided within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience, you may have a right to a price reduction or final rejection in accordance with applicable law.
Any commercial warranty supplied with the product is additional to your statutory rights and does not replace or restrict them.
11. Damage Caused After Delivery
Statutory remedies for faulty goods do not cover damage caused after delivery by:
- incorrect installation or wiring;
- use outside the published electrical or environmental limits;
- modification, misuse or accidental damage;
- incorrect connection to an aircraft electrical system or other equipment;
- failure to follow supplied installation or operating instructions; or
- normal wear and tear.
We will assess the product and available evidence before determining whether the issue results from an inherent fault or from damage occurring after delivery.
This section does not exclude responsibility for an inherent fault merely because it became apparent after installation or use.
12. Payment Disputes, PayPal Claims and Chargebacks
We ask customers to contact us first so that returns and refunds can be handled promptly and in accordance with this policy and applicable consumer law.
Opening a PayPal dispute, payment-provider claim or card chargeback does not remove any applicable obligation to return the goods or permit a customer to retain both the goods and the refunded purchase price.
If a payment dispute or chargeback is opened, we may provide the payment provider, PayPal, card issuer or relevant financial institution with evidence relating to the transaction, including:
- the order and payment records;
- the product description and applicable returns policy;
- the delivery address, shipment tracking and proof of delivery;
- communications concerning the order, cancellation or return;
- the product’s firmware serial number;
- production and final functional-test records;
- evidence showing the reason originally given for the return;
- photographs or video of the returned parcel and product;
- the return inspection and functional-test results;
- evidence of damage, modification, installation or missing components;
- the calculation of any reduction in value; and
- evidence of any full or partial refund already issued.
Where a returned product has suffered a documented reduction in value, we may issue or offer a partial refund reflecting the lawful deduction.
A payment dispute does not increase or reduce the refund to which you are entitled under applicable consumer law.
You must not knowingly seek or accept more than one refund for the same transaction. If a refund has already been issued directly by us, evidence of that refund may be submitted in response to any duplicate payment claim or chargeback.
13. Orders Placed by Businesses
The statutory change-of-mind cancellation rights described in this policy apply to consumers.
Orders placed wholly or mainly for business, trade, craft or professional purposes do not automatically benefit from the consumer cancellation rights described above.
Business returns will be considered according to the applicable contract, our Terms and Conditions and any separate written agreement.
This distinction does not affect any rights that a business customer may have where goods are faulty, incorrectly supplied or do not comply with the applicable contract.
